Improvised theatre that is engaging, compelling and hilariously entertaining!
In practical terms Theatresports® is similar to the TV Show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway', involving teams of improvisers who perform impromptu scenes in front of a live audience and are awarded points by a panel of judges.
But it's also so much more. It's about the wonder and thrill of 'being in the moment', of the tangible anticipation shared by both audience and performers about what could possibly happen next. It's about beholding 'brilliant minds in panic' and experiencing the magical exchange that occurs when offers are accepted and graciously extended. It's about watching something come from nothing and experiencing the act of creation over and over again. It's about laughing not only at the funny moments but also at the moments of unexpected wonder and delight.
For those of you interested in the courses, embracing the skills of impro will not only make you a stronger performer but it'll make you more charming as a person and open and receptive to the world around you. You'll be more likely to say 'Yes' to life and just see what happens without striving to always stay in control.
Whether you're learning, playing or watching, Theatresports® is an experience you'll never forget.
This improvised scene was performed by Matt Driver and Scott Russell at 'Theatresports At The Hub' at Erina on Saturday 28th May 2015. The team asked for suggestions from the audience and settled on 'Daredevil' and 'Retirement Home' as a starting point. This scene is an 'open scene' and does not have any special rules or handles. It was accompanied by music which was also improvised by Declan Green.
Theatresports is the best improv training, period.
